About Comrie
Brief guide to Comrie and the surrounding areas
The beautiful village of Comrie in the heart of scenic Strathearn, Perthshire, lies on the banks of the River Earn, at the meeting of Glen Lednock and Glen Artney.  The Scottish Highlands rise to the North.  The bustling small town of Crieff is only a ten minute drive, and both Perth and Stirling can be reached in half an hour.  The cultural cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow are both approximately one hour away, where you can enjoy a host of attractions.

The Nurse’s Cottage is only a five minute walk from the centre of the village, where you will discover a great selection of shops including a butcher, two convenience stores (open early to late), baker, delicatessen, fruit and veg shop, general store, pet shop, pharmacy / chemist, craft / gift shops and post office.

Comrie is spoilt with a great selection of eateries within walking distance of the cottage.  There are two hotels in the village, The Royal and The Comrie Hotel, both of which serve food as well as having Dog friendly public bars. There is also the Deil’s Cauldron restaurant which serves excellent food (booking is a must).  During the day, the Comrie Café and Hansen’s Deli serve wholesome lunches and snacks, and if you are feeling a little naughty, the Fish & Chip shop is a must. Venturing further afield opens up many more excellent eating opportunities.

On the main street there is a spa and a hairdresser for pampering yourself…. after all, you are on holiday.

The village also has a dentist, health centre, first responder team and a fire station - however, we hope you won’t be requiring any of their services!

Whether you are an adrenalin junkie looking for your next thrill or someone who enjoys more leisurely pursuits; there really is something for everyone, right on your doorstep.  A host of outdoor activities can be found close by, from relaxed fishing on the lochs and rivers to mountain biking, canyoning or munro-bagging, and many more between.

Let’s not forget about golf of course!  Comrie Golf Club is only 5 minutes walk from the cottage, however if you want to venture a little further afield, you are rewarded with a multitude of courses to choose from.

In Perthshire alone, there are 33 golf courses, including the world famous Gleneagles, only 30 minutes drive away.  Should you wish to visit the home of golf, St Andrews, this can be reached in under 2 hours.

The village has a very busy social calendar with lots on throughout the year, some of the highlights are the Comrie Fortnight in July/ August and the Flambeaux Torch Light Parade at New Year.  Crieff hosts the nearest Highland Games in August.
